The CHIREC programme has an appropriate balance of academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities with the following underlying objectives:
Cognitive Development:
- To develop logical thinking and analytical reasoning at a concrete level through active exploration and interaction.
- To develop a scientific temper and a spirit of enquiry.
Social and Emotional Development:
- To inculcate self-discipline, independence and responsibility which ultimately enable a child to take decisions on his / her own.
- To create an environment where the child's effort is appreciated regardless of success or failure.
- To do away with inappropriate practices such as criticism of a child's mistakes or shortcomings as well as corporal punishment.
- To develop and maintain positive social relationships among peers through group work and team spirit.
- To develop self-esteem and self-awareness through life-skills.
Language and Communication skills:
- To use language as a tool of learning and a means of communication through reading, writing, listening and speaking.
- To develop the ability to appreciate literature as an enriching and rewarding experience through regular reading sessions and effective use of the library.
Physical Development:
- To develop fine motor and large motor skills through various outdoor and indoor games.
- To introduce children to basic warm up and age appropriate stamina building exercises.
Aesthetic Development:
Creative Development:
- To develop creativity and spirit of innovation through exploratory sessions.
- To develop entrepreneurial skills through life-skills and hands-on activities.
Integrated Development:
- To develop qualities of leadership, spirit of adventure and dignity of labour.
- To help the child grow into a responsible and good citizen.
- To promote love and respect for the country and foster national integration and spirit of secularism.
